Dr.A.NirmalaJyothsna, Head, Department of Physics &  Electronics,Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women received  the prestigious Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Life Time Achievement National Award for her distinguished contributions to the development of the Nation and achieving outstanding excellence in the field of Teaching, Research and Publications conferred by  the International Institute for Social and Economic Reforms(R) ,Bengaluru an institute.. involved  in rejuvenating socio – Economic activities at grass root level ..an organization registered under  Govt. of India.  She was felicitated and presented the award on 29^th February 2020 at Bangalore. The management,and  the faculty congratulated  her on this occasion.

Energy Conservation Week Celebrations

Workshop on usage of ERDAS software

  Training on RS & GIS image analysis was organized by the Dept. of Physics & Electronics in GIS lab. In this the resource person was Mr. Sai Venkateswar Reddy from Hexagon Solutions, Hyderabad. All together twenty faculty from dept of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer science have participated in this training. This is a very useful tool to map the data used in different projects on 11^th & 12^th Dec 2019.

GIS Lab inauguration

On 29^th Nov 2019 – GIS lab was inaugurated at CH.S.D.St.Theresa's College for Women(A), Eluru  by Shri. Hari Prasad, Director, RUSA. All the management with various heads of the departments graced the occasion.

Knowledge Extension

An extension program on “LASERS - A Solution for Every Problem” was put up on 21^st Nov 2019 in our college auditorium by III B.Sc- MPC-II, the ward students of Ms.P.Anusha, Lecturer in Physics & Electronics. In this program the Principle of LASRS & Applications of LASERS in various fields like NASA Satellite Communication, Beauty Therapy, Medicine, Defense, Industry and other purposes are explained in detail with the help of interesting videos and Power Point Presentations.

Workshop on PCB Designing & its Manufacturing.

Dept. of Physics & Electronics, has conducted a Workshop on “PCB Designing & Manufacturing” on 18^th & 19^th  NOV 2019 in collaboration with MICROLINK Technologies, Vijayawada, Sponsored by RUSA(2.0). In this M.Sc. Physics & II B.Sc. Physics & I B.Sc. Electronics students have participated during which they have learnt theoretical concepts & they have also learnt  Circuit designing using PCB Wizard, Etching process, Drilling, Mounting the Electronic components on PCB and they have all done three projects namely…Power Supply, Night lamp, & IR tester.This program instilled confidence in them so that they can take up more innovative & higher level projects in future.  This Program is organized under the able guidance Dr.Sr.K.Showrillu, Vice Principal & Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna, Head, Dept. of Physics & Electronics.

INternship on Embedded Systems

Dept. of Physics & Electronics, has inaugurated a six Day Internship Program “EMBEDDED SYSTEMS & IT’S DESIGNING” on 13^th NOV 2019  in collaboration with MICROLINK Technologies, Vijayawada, Sponsored by RUSA (2.0). This program is conducted from 13^th Nov to 19^th Nov 2019. In this M.Sc. Physics & III B.Sc. Electronics students have participated in  this during which they have learnt  theoretical concepts & they have also learnt practical skills in doing the projects related to Embedded Systems. This Program is organized under the able guidance of  Dr.Sr.K.Showrillu, Vice Principal &  Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna, Head, Dept. of Physics & Electronics. Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp:

 Centre for Entrepreneurship Development –CED(An under taking of ALEAP) ,Hyderabad  has organised an Entrepreneurship Awarness camp, for all the II B.Sc. M.P.C & III B.Sc. M.P.C students on 5^th & 6^th Nov 2019 in our college Auditorium under the supervision of Dept. of Physics & Dept. of Chemistry.  Dr.Sr. Marietta D’Mello, our principal, Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna, Head, Dept. of Physics & Dr.C.A.Jyothirmayi, Head, Dept. of Chemistry, Smt.Vara Lakshmi, Co-ordinator, ALEAP Vijayawada, Mr.Vishnu Vardhan, and Ms. Kiranmayi, CEO, Hansita Creations, Hyderabad have inaugurated the session. Ms. Kiranmayi has addressed the gathering on enterpreneural skills needed to start a business. Mr.Vishnu Vardhan the Resource person for the session motivated the students and they have conducted a Group Discussion for students and each group came up with an innovative idea of starting a small business. On 6^th Nov 2019, Mrs.Suneetha, Bank Manager, Andhra Bank enlightened the students on the Schemes & Loans that Govt is providing for the young entrepreneurs and for small start ups and the necessary criteria & documents to be submitted when applying for loan.

International FORUM

International FORUM on Recent trends in Physics, Chemistry & Allied Sciences for Sustainable Development:

Departments of Physics & Electronics along with Dept. of Chemistry have organized an International FORUM on Recent trends in Physics, Chemistry & Allied Sciences for Sustainable Development-2019 on 27th & 28th Sept 2019. Dr. Swamy K.B., Director, International Affairs, Lincoln University, Malaysia was the chief Guest and Prof. K.Ravi Krishna, GITHAM University, Visakhapatnam, Dr. Ratnakar, President, IMRF were the Guest of Honours. Sr. Lourd Mary, the correspondent, Dr.Sr. Marietta D’Mello, the principal, Dr.Sr.K.Showrillu, the vice-principal cum P.G.Director and Heads of the departments of Physics & Chemistry graced the occasion.

 Chief Guest for valedictory session was  Dr.S.A.Martin Brittodhas, Associate Prof. Tirupattur, Dr.Ramesh Gardas, IIT Madras and Dr.Ramachandra Rao, GDC, Rajahmundry graced this International Forum. About 200 participants were there and among them 90 presented their papers.

 Workshop on Internet of Things

The Department of Physics & Electronics has organized a 3 day Workshop on “Internet of Things” on 29, 30 & 31 August 2019. Sri. V. Govinda Rao, Director Technical  Microlink Peripheral pvt. Ltd, Vijayawada was the Resource person. More than 100 students of Physics & Electronics of III B.Sc.M.P.CS & M.E.CS actively participated in it. In this workshop the concepts & basic Electronics behind IOT & its application in Smart technologies was very clearly explained. The students have put the theoretical knowledge into practice by developing some smart appliances like LED blinking, Buzzer, Relay ON & OFF, Bluetooth, Smart Mobile interface for home Automation, ADC interface  for measuring temperature & Light intensity  using IOT

Guest Lecture on Recent Advances in Nanoscience Research

A guest Lecture has been organized by Dept. of physics & Electronics on 22.08.2019.

Dr.K.Ramachandra Rao, HOD, Govt. college, Rajahmundry was the Resource person. He enlightened the students on the topic “Recent Advances in Nanoscience” which was very interesting.The students of U.G. & P.G Physics have actively participated in this and gained knowledge.

IIRS Live and Interactive sesions

IIRS Outreach programme:
48^th IIRS Outreach program coordinated by Department of Physics & Electronics:

As our college is a Network Institute of IIRS, Dehradun, the Department of Physics & Electronics has coordinated a live & interactive program on 48^th IIRS Outreach program on “Digital Photogrammetry based 3D modelling” during 29^th July 2019 – 2^nd August 2019. Faculty of Department of Physics & Electronics have participated in this program.  

50^th IIRS Outreach Program coordinated by Department of Physics & Electronics:

As our college is a Network Institute of IIRS, Dehradun, the Department of Physics & Electronics has coordinated a live & interactive program on “50^th IIRS course onBasics of RS, GIS & GNSS” during 19^th Aug 2019 – 15^th Nov 2019. Nearly 155 students and 15 faculty have registered for this program and the course is running presently. 

Academia 2019 Organised by Department of Physics and Electronics

The Department of Physics & Electronics was in charge of Academia-2019 on 23^rd July for the whole college i.e. for both U.G and P.G sections. Different Competitions like Essay Writing, Elocution , Debate , Power Point Presentations etc, were conducted by all the Departments to encourage & bring out the inherent talents of the students. As a part of this the Department of Physics & Electronics has conducted a PPT Competition on “Chandrayan in Exploration of Moon”.

As our college is a Network Institute of IIRS, Dehradun, the Department of Physics & Electronics has coordinated a live & interactive program on “46^th IIRS course on Advances in Remote Sensing and Geospatial technologies for Disaster early warning, monitoring and mitigation” during 8^th July 2019 – 12^th July 2019. 55 students and 10 faculty have participated in this program.

Ms.A.Sai Sandhya, faculty of Department of Physics & Electronics has attended a Two month NNRMS course from 13^th May 2019 – 5^th July 2019  on “ Satellite Image Analysis and Photogrammetry” financially supported by College. The course was held at IIRS, Dehradun. She was awarded a certificate for successfully completing the program and secured ‘A’ grade.

Electronics E-Hub "E-Hub Activity"

The Department of Physics and Electronics inaugurated the Electronics club “E-hub” on 11^th July 2019. The II B.Sc Electronics students are the members of Electronics club named as E-Hub. It was inaugurated with prayer.

1.a)Ms.Karishma Banu of the batch 2015-17 is qualified in APSET in the month of       November     2016.

       b).Ms.Karishma Banu of batch 2015-17 received Prathibha award from government of Andhra          Pradesh for excellence in M.Sc. physics during the academic year 2016-17.

       c). Ms.Karishma Banu has been awarded one gold medal and 10 cash awards for standing                first in Andhra University for the academic year 2016-17. She received these awards at the              85^th & 86^th combined convocation of Andhra University on 9^th January 2019.

      d).Currently she is pursuing research on  “Hydroxyapatite based Polymer Composites” at IIT               Guwahati

                                                Dept of Physics &Electronics  has organised an Internship programme on "Embedded Systems and its Designing " for M.Sc Physics students  &III B.Sc.Electronics cluster students in Collaboration with MICRO LINK,Vijayawada from 21st Jan to 5th February 2019 during which the  students were given hands on experience by doing projects related to Embedded Systems along with theoretical concepts.

IIRS outreach programme

Our College has become the network institute of IIRS Outreach network,ISRO,Dehradun,Dept of Space,Govt. of India during December 2018.  Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna, HOD of Physics and Electronics is the Coordinator of our institute for the  Outreach Programme.The dept of Physics has taken charge  of  registering  the students for this course and making arrangements to run this programme.. Altogether 31 participants comprising  of  13 physics and computer faculty and 18 Physics cluster students  have participated in IIRS 41st distance learning course on "Hyper Spectral Remote sensing and its Applications " from 21st Jan to 1st February 2019.
