Ø Every
year the department faculty have made their ward students sensitive
to the needs of the people who were often neglected and have raised
some fund towards the “Joy
of giving” event.
Ø Faculty are consultants to local schools on Physics Concepts through
Mobile Lab.
Ø Science Awareness programs using Mobile lab were organized
for X class students of Juvenile Home for Boys,
Sanivarapupeta ,Eluru
Ø On 25th September
2014 an awareness programme on “Launching of MOM into orbit
of Mars ” was organized by the dept of Physics & Electronics
to all the students of P.G and U.G
Ø On 5th July 2014 there
was a panel discussion on “Cell Tower Radiation and its impact on human
life ”and the panel members were Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna ,H.O.D.of
Physics & Electronics ,Dr.Murali,Radiologist Asram Hospital.
Ø Every year as a
part of National Science day celebrations EDUFEST is
arranged for nearly 800 students of different schools. The department
of Physics exhibits the basic principles of Physics in Optics,
Sound ,Electricity ,Magnetism,& Electronics through simple experiments and
also short films related to Newtons laws, propagation of sound waves, structure
of Atom ,Launching of MOM on Mars by ISRO are shown on an LCD projector. Many
live electronics projects like Lie detector ,Nerve tester, Clap Switch,
Antisleep alarm ,Electronic Eye etc are demonstrated. The posters on
recent developments in various fields of Science and Technology were displayed.
It was a real source of inspiration for the young minds.
Ø On 15th February an
awareness session on ISRO's activities was given with
the help of videos . After this all our students (nearly 2000) and faculty have
watched enthusiastically live forecast of launch of 104 satellites
with PSLV C-37 .
Ø Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna was the Jury
member for the District level INSPIRE awards Science
Exhibition from 8th September 2015 to 10th September
2015 held at St.Xavier’s High school, Xavier nagar, Eluru, W.G.Dt.,
organized by DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Ø On 18th December
,2015 a national Seminar on “Applications of Differential
Equations ” was organised by the dept of Mathematics in
which Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna was a resource person for one of the
session of the seminar and enlightened the students on “Differential Equations
- A realistic Approach ”.
Ø A Post graduate student Dr.Ujwala
,Dept of Prosthodontics ,St.Josephs Dental college utilizes the
expertise and equipment of Physics lab to complete her thesis .
